VCAP Chronicles Ugochi Obidiegwu’s Visionary Evolution: Crafting a New Vision, Establishing Foundations, and Igniting Impactful Change
HOW DID YOU FIND OUT ABOUT VCAP, AND WHAT MADE IT THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR YOU?
I joined the Visionary Compass because I enjoy the environment where superior learning happens. So, it was easy to pick a course above a cash gift.
I am also here because I believe in collaboration and a community of like-minded people. Through this experience, I would make new friends and support others with my skills and abilities.
Also, I believe that knowledge and community combined are peculiar to my growth as a Visionary because it is always important to be surrounded by people who think like you or ahead of you so that you do not become complacent. This act will encourage me to keep at it both on the good and bad days.
DID YOU HAVE YOUR VISION CLARIFIED, OR DID YOU COME TO VCAP TO FIGURE THINGS OUT?
I had done some work but I wanted to be investor ready for the next phase of work. I also had new philanthropy interests but I had not put a structure to it.
Primarily, I seek to gain practical knowledge and proven techniques for managing a multi-influential life without overwhelm. I desire new insights to keep me honed to perform my visionary tasks at optimum levels. I am in a rebirth season of life, and I need this program to transition well.
WHAT INTRIGUED YOU THE MOST ABOUT THIS WHOLE EXPERIENCE?
The most critical thing VCAP did for me was to help me redesign my vision for current effectiveness and future longevity.
Using the transformation rubrics as a guide, I could see that a vision has a wheel that must be kept well-rounded for efficiency. As much as we are growing, we must think of becoming authorities in our niches. We must think of making an impact in our communities. We must think of legacy by building an institution with what has been committed to our hands.
This helped me to rearrange the work we do. My major work during VCAP was taking the learnings and building a new foundation that can carry the next phase of work.
DID YOU HAVE AN “A-HA!” MOMENT THAT CHANGED YOUR WAY OF THINKING ABOUT YOUR VISIONARY JOURNEY?
I loved the core curriculum and the execution blueprint. I really like to learn and improve, and that is what these aspects did for me. The execution blueprint handed me tools and frameworks to work with. It helped me do the necessary work and get the results.
We have redesigned our vision into two strong organizations – The Safety Chic Ltd and UGIP Foundation. We have done legal work and have defined new plans, processes, and leadership for them. For The Safety Chic Ltd, this preparation helped us get on an accelerator, equipping us for investment.
It was our target when we stepped into VCAP, and it is exciting to see it happening in real time. For UGIP Foundation, this helped us define what we wanted to be known for and integrate it into the plans from the ideation phase. We also leveraged partnerships and got a Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital on board one of the programs in the Foundation.
For us, this is just proof of other things to come when you build the right structures.
